Good Sunscreen For Sensitive Skin By Strawberryshortcake on - Updated Sep 18, 2011
I have fair skin, my skin is so white im sure i glow in the dark. My skin is also extremely sensitive and turns red, burnd easy in the sun and i never ever ever get a tan EVER! I am on the search for an awsome sunblock that will give me the best protection for my white as toilet paper skin, that doesnt feel like i slapped on half a bottle of Crisco oil with a bit of butter added, doesnt feel heavy and smothering, and most importantly will not at all burn or sting my cheeks or eyes, cause swelling or puffiness etc... Im really not asking for much -lol. Oh yeah, and i dont want to break out in pimples either!
So i will be testing as many samples i can get my little hands on before i spend any cash, and i will review all of them i have tried.
My first review is the Super City Block spf 40 from Clinique, i must admit i dont much care for their products, im not sure how much i fully trust the quality of spf in this, i used to work for this company and some others and have learned how good the majority of them are at decieving their customers with quality, trust me alot of these higher end products are a gimmik and over priced, you can get some better products way cheaper in the drugstore, do your research and compare ingredients on ds and high end products to see for yourself dont believe the sales lady, she is on commission and can lose her job so easy if she doesnt make her quoata, she is lying to you, i was one of them until i quite, so i know!
Anyway back to the actual product review. I guess i will have to wait to see if i burn in the sun with this before judging the quality of the spf. I do like this product, it goes on a little greasy, but it soaks up into the skin, it says it is oil-free. The creamy lotion has a bit of a beigy tint, but it wont give you any color at all, so dont worry about looking orange or artificial, the color is just there so that you wont get a pasty white cast on your skin that sunscreen can leave. It did seem to smooth the look of my pores, they looked a bit smaller under this very sheer lotion, and toned down a bit of the red in my skin, but it didnt cover any imperfections, though i did not expect it to, and it doesnt claim to do that.
The lotion soaked right up into my skin, no oil slick feel, it didnt take long to do this, only a couple seconds to maybe a minute, other sunscreens seem to take forever, which in the morning most of us just dont have the time to wait before makeup application, so i was impressed with this. I also forgot i had it on at the end of the day, it is so incredibly like, no icky feel, no stickiness, and no feeling of the need to rush home to wash off!
The sunscreen in no way at all burned or stung my face - amazing, even more amazing i decided to be brave and apply under my eyes, again nothing, even braver i applied to my eyelids and thought okay get ready for the burn, but nothing! All day this did not leak into my eyes!
As for the scent, it goes away once it is rubbed in to skin, but it doesnt really have that much of a smell, just a little bit of the suncreen smell, this did not bother me. So far no pimples either, and i have been wearing daily for a week and a half! I may actually purchase this as my spf this summer for my face, i just dont care for the small size or price for the little size, in Canada it is $21.50 for 40ml.
It contains: 8.8% zinc oxide, 7.5% octinoxate, 6.6% titanium dioxide, 2.0% octisalate, that is for the Canadian version, may be a little different in USA and other contries.
I meant to type where it says 'it is so incredibly like' like should be LITE
