Goodbye Vonage..HELLO Comcast
By Maliki2 onI have had Vonage for many years. But I was ready for a change and wanted to take advantage of eliminating one bill. So I decided I would take the plunge and get the special from my local cable company. I decided to get Comcast Digital Voice.
The installer showed up to my house on time, and pulled out the Comcast Didigtal Voice modem. My first impression was that this RCA modem is HUGE. Now that I have had it for a few days it doesn't appear to be all that bad.Anyway, the installation went without a hitch.
The modem was hooked up to my wireless router and away it went. One thing I did like about this modem is that it has a battery backup. All the other modem/routers combos I had meant that if the power went down your phone did also. I love this new feature and makes it safe in case of a emergency.
This allows me unlimited long distance in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and a few other outlying areas which is great considering all phone calls to my family is long distance.
Also included are 12 calling features, such as call waiting, 3 way calling, speed dial, call waiting with caller id, and a bunch of others.
I couldn't be happier with this service, and it has saved me hundreds of dollars worth of calls already.

You made a good choice. Comcast is great!
Comcast call us at least once a day to try to get us to get on board with this. We just haven't decided that it would be worth the extra since we get free long distance with our cell phones.
we r using vonage but now check this one also
The battery backup feature is great - I've wondered how the digital phone would work if the power went out. Glad Comcast has figured out a way around that issue.
This sounds like a great phone plan. Thanks for the information.
This sounds like a good idea wit the safety feature. How long have you had Comcast?
I just got on Comcast just a few weeks ago.
That battery back up featre is a big plus. I have never research these plans, thanks for the information
So glad the digital phone service from Comcast is working well for you. My parents have it and they have their 'box' whatever it is on the side of their house. Well, turns out when it was getting rained on, it started dialing 911 by itself! My parents had 3 visits in 1 week about 911 hang ups before they and Comcast finally realized the phone system itself was dialing out! Luckily Comcast documented this for the 911 management system because they wanted to charge my mother for excessive 911 calls! They have since replaced the box and added new cabling and there hasn't been a problem.
