Got Afibrilation? Need Heart Surgery? By Dan Smyth on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I just had heart surgery that didn't go so well. Then, because we didn't pay enough to Cobra, we got our insurance canceled.

The processes of my Heart condition let me know that without regular doctor care, I really did need to monitor my BP. I used the monitor for 2 months, and was pleased to find that it actually checked me a bit higher in BP rates than the doctor.

My doctor, when i finally got some money to see him, said that it is a good monitor, as it would be better to give me a slightly higher reading than a reading that said everything was fine when it was not!

I still have Atrial Fibrilation, and know when it happens. The monitor has got it right every time! I was a bit hesitant in buying the monitor, since I do not have a job, medical insurance, and I am very close to loosing my home, but the knowledge of my blood pressure on a regular basis really gives me piece of mind! About 56 bucks well spent!

It even plugs the data into my computer, and can be set to add another person, and keep the records for 99 times each!

I love it!

So sorry to hear that you have been through so much. I have an irregular heartbeat, but it is classified as benign-not serious like yours. Still, it feels scary sometimes. I also monitor my blood pressure at home. Glad you like this machine, and hope you continue to get better.

I have a very strong heart though, and no bad arteries and the stuff normally associated with my condition. The main problem with my heart, is that it has been in A-Fib for so long that it has gotten used to it! I guess I have a stubborn head AND heart! EVerything seems to be healing from the surgeries, and I am feeling better every couple days it seems, so thanks for your comments! There is a lot of info on the net, so investigate your irregular hertbeat, and don't ignore it too long! Good luck to you!

My husband had the same surgery and the same heart fibrilation a few weeks after the surgery. He returned to the hospital and was monitored and put on medication, today he is doing good and no fibrilation. It"s only been 6 weeks.
