Grab Your Weapon! By Mom2One on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Here is another great product for those in Martial Arts.

My son's martial arts school offers a weapon class for the advance belts. One of my son favorite weapons is the Nunchakus

What kid would not like to learn how to use nunchakus?

Believe it or not there are many different types and styles of Nunchakus. For my son we decided to go with a foam style for different reasons. First it is lightweight, perfect for the younger kids just learning how to control and use the weapon.

Second leaning to use a nunchaku properly can be tricky at first. There has been a few times when my son has hit himself when learning the nunchaku.

Well since these nunchakus are foam it does not hurt when he accidentally hits himself. I am sure if he had the wood ones he would have really cause himself some pain.

The quality is very good. We have not had any problems with them. I feel the price is very affordable. We brought these from Century Martial Arts and they were only $8.00.

These are not toys, but if you are in Martial Arts and learning different weapons I do highly recommend these nunchakus.

This sounds like a great set of nunchakus to begin learning with as they will not cause to much pain if one gets hit. The price was also good as it didn't have to break the bank like so many other items needed for various sports, etc our kids take up. Excellent information provided. Nice job!

I would also start out with foam! Great price too.

By eliminating the fear and tension associated with training in weapons that can hurt, it helps inspire confidence in very young students. It also offers the additional benefit of being safe when children decide to share their new found arts with non training buddies:0

I didn't know that had classes to learn this. Thanks for the information, and agree the foam is probably a good idea to learn on.

My son would go nuts over these things. He is always swinging a stick, vaccum attachment, life saver or something around.

Ouch, yeah I can only imagine how many times I would hit myself with these, good thing they don't hurt lol. That is not a bad price at all. Glad they make a safe set for kids.

Had a friend once who was very good with these. Foam sounds like a safer way to learn, although it seems like controlling the weight is part of the art.

You are so wise to start your son off with foam-that would be safe for ME if I was just learning how to use these!

I've tried to use these in class and I'm not very good at it. I think a padded pair of nunchakus would have been a smarter thing for me to learn with. Glad to hear your child is using these first!

I used to play with sets of these when I was younger. Kids can learn alot, and even if they are foam they need to be careful still.
