Great Calculator Yes, You Should Find One! By jb_shops on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
The Texas Instruments TI-30 SLR+ calculator is an OUTSTANDING calculator for me. If you find one, I think you will agree.
This calculator has several features that separate it from being just another calculator. While it doesn't have any "unique" features, each feature it has is well designed and implemented.
First, the size of the unit is comfortable in my hand; so often calculators are too small or too thin to be comfortable to hold. The buttons give the user a great tactile response. The buttons are hard plastic, have a texture to on the top, and are large enough to actuate without hitting a neighboring key.
The keys are also color coded to mark the different zones: numbers, basic math, and scientific functions.
The unit is solar powered, therefore does not require batteries.
Last & definitely not least, the calculator comes with a hard plastic slide on/off cover that is stored on the bottom of the calculator. This means you don't have to deal with the flip & flop.

That is something I always look for in calculators is it being solar powered.Teaxas Instruments is a great , reputable company!
This calculator sounds like a good one. I like it when things a re simple and easy to use.
Want to add an update an generally tell what level of use this is for? General use, high school math, college math, statistics, regressions, etc.?
I too remember when I was in high school & had a similar calculator to this!!! I think it's nice that the keys are color coded-mine wasn't!!
Jb this is a truly useful calculator. I like that you can figure tax on it easily, and certainly the color coded keys are a big help, especially for someone with impaired vision. The size and tactile buttons are another definite plus, making this a winner.
Sounds like a good calculator. I can't stand it when I'm adding up my mileage for the day and hit two numbers instead of one with my calculator...it messes up my count and I have to start all over ;0(
As a former math teacher, these were the recommended calculators for students too--they did everything we would like and the price is very reasonable.
Ahhh!!! This reminds me of algebra and statistics class in college lol. I had a texas instruments calculator there. It was a really nice product and although I wish it would have completely figured out the problems for me, it was ok. =-)
This does sound like a great calculator. Thanks for the great information.
We have found Texas Instruments to be the best too. I will have to look into this particular model.
