I am always on the lookout for new products to give my hair a healthy shine without adding a greasy appearance. That is precisely what I got from Joico Protect & Shine Serum. For its relatively small size (1.7 ounces), the price of $17.99 seemed a tad steep, but it was worth it. Since I use such a small amount each time, I know that one bottle will last a very long time.

After showering and towel-drying my hair so that it was still damp, I applied two pumps of the serum, starting at the ends of my hair and distributing it evenly to the roots. Already, my hair felt more manageable, but I did not see the full results until my hair was styled. After blow-drying and straightening my hair with a flat iron (a very drying styling process), my hair had a mirror shine even in the dim light of my bathroom. After using the serum, I had virtually no frizz, and my hair felt silky when it would normally become tangled. The best part? I get tons of compliments on my hair now.

The texture of Joico Protect & Shine Serum is nice--it doesn't feel greasy, and while it is thin, it isn't so drippy that it is hard to control while applying. The scent of the product is a bit odd--it smells almost like bread or yeast. However, the scent wore off quickly when it was in my hair, so I didn't smell like a bakery. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants super-shiny hair from a non-greasy, virtually weightless product.
