Green Dot Prepaid Cards By Tyler Landry on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

About three months ago I purchased a green dot prepaid visa card for $4.95 plus the minimum ten dollars you have to load on it to activate the card then I went online like the instructions said activated my card and in about two weeks I received my permanent card (the card with my name on it) Then I used the card online (using all the money on the card or at least almost ) and it worked fine if I ended my review here it would have been a very good review but after two months of not using my card I received a letter saying I had owed them 12.95 because of the $5.45 fee every month I knew about the fee but the website said that I would not have to pay the fee if there was no money on it so I didn't even worry about it till that letter came so I called green dot and they said that there website never said that so I go to look and sure enough thy had changed there policy to no fee if you made over 30 purchases that month so I complained and they said that they had a right to change there policy any time they wanted so I paid the 12.95 and canceled the card I suggest staying far away from green dot soon I will tri the rush card and I will post a review hopefully a good one.

The banks are getting really out of hand with their fees!

thats the thing about most terms of service people agree to. the banks or other businesses for that matter can change the contracts to suit their needs anytime they want. i've noticed that about most terms that I have to agree to. it basicly doesn't matter about the current policy anymore. agreeing to terms are not fair anymore for the most part. its sad

Oh yeah, I bought one of their cards, and when I tried to activate it, they didn't accept it. Then, when I tried to activate the card again, they claimed that I had already activated that card. So, it was a waste of $25 for me. :(

Was going to get one of these type of cards for my youngest a few years ago but the fee was in my opinion rather ridiculous - I could accept a small percentage of every purchase (i.e. a 30 dollar purchase carries a 30 cent fee etc) but for a card I had to refill it just wasn't worth the fee. Thanks for the review.
