Groomax Deluxe Nail Clipper For Dogs By Karen on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I hate clipping my dogs' nails, but it is something that has to be done. When I read the reviews on SR for Pedi-Paws and similar items, I realized that this apparatus would probably not work with my dogs. I have one dachshund that is so timid I could never use an item like that on him.
So I decided to try your good old-fashioned nail clippers. I purchased the small Deluxe Nail Clipper by Groomax at Petsmart and just trimmed my dogs' nails with it. I never take off too much nail because I'm always afraid of hurting them. OK, so I'm a wimp when it comes to this. The Groomax Nail Clipper in size small is a nice sturdy pair of clippers. It has a nail guard which helps you to not overcut, it also has a safety clasp that will lock the clippers when not in use. The small is great for small to medium sized dogs. The clippers I purchased are shown in the middle lefthand side of the photo.
I was impressed with these clippers. They did a nice job, and they are not cheaply made. Of course, when you use nail clippers, you always end up with a slightly ragged tip, but a nail file will smooth that right out.
I think these clippers are very nice, and I'm glad I purchased them.

We've actually gotten our Jack Russel use to the Pedi-Paws - now she doesn't seem to mind it at all - certainly isn't as quick as TV leads you to believe but for those weekly light trim ups - I think we've gotten the hang of it - I've never gotten use to the clippers, like you I'm afraid I'll hurt her but glad these have worked out well for you & your pet. Thanks for the info.
