Growing Up Birthday Girls
By chesneychic onWhen my daughter was baptized we received a one of these dolls as a gift it was a baby sitting in a cradle. The dolls are made of porcelain and are hand painted. I thought it was very cute but did not realize that there was a whole line of them that ranges from birth until your child graduates.Every Birthday my aunt buys her one they are very pretty and my favorite thing about them is every year as my daughter gets older so does the doll. The dress and hairstyle is different on each doll and they get slightly taller. The dolls get a little more expensive as your child gets older but they are still reasonable.
I had another daughter so I start buying her these dolls but bought her the ones with blonde hair.I keep the dolls on a shelf in each of their rooms. I love looking at them because it reminds me how big my kids have gotten. I have seen these sold at Hallmark and also my local Giant Eagles.Every year for my kid's birthday they get happy when they open the dolls because they can't wait to see how their dolls have changed.

What a beautiful keepsake that hopefully your daughters will pass down to their daughters!!!!
I have a huge collection of these from when I was little Back then every gift shop at every attraction used to carry them and when we went on vacation I was allowed to get a new one to add to the collection. Since we traveled so many different places, I ended up with a large collection that are so different and unique. I love them.
How have I missed ever seeing these? No little girls, probably! What a nice collection to carry into adulthood.
These sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing your experience.
What a neat tradition! Do they have boy versions as well?
I have a few of these! I think my mom got me one when I was 12 and one at 13 or something like that. We were going to go back and get the past ones too but never did. lol. So now I only have a few. I would love to start my daughter on that collection though.
i have seen these and really wished they made a boy version. I suppose the company thinks it won't sell as well as the girl version. They are probably right
I've never seen these figurines, but they sound like wonderful gifts for your daughters. They will enjoy the dolls for years to come.
I remember these type of figurines! But I did not know that they came with different color hair - I think the ones I remember always had brownish blond hair.
Girls are fond of dolls. Believe me I am still now fond of those soft toys though it may not be my age to play with dolls.
