Reviewing: Red Octane Guitar Hero

I never thought I would enjoy this game.I looked at the crazy guitar controller and assumed I could never keep up.Then, I tried it, and was hooked instantly.

This game allows you to be your own guitar hero. You choose your character, your axe, and head off on a nationwide tour.

The game has several levels of difficulty, so that you can still feel like you are rocking out even as a novice. The controller is shaped like a guitar, with fret buttons and a strumming bar.A whammy bar is also featured, for added fun. This is a rhythm type game, which means you will be watching colored buttons go by on screen, and you must press the correct frets and strum at the same time. There is a nice tutorial included that teaches you all of this.

I was impressed by the song selection. There is something there for everyone. The songs are done by cover bands, but they sound very impressive.

The only issue i have with this game is that there is no universal high score board. The high scores are saved into seperate "bands" or saved game files.Everyone who shares this game would have to play from the same "band" file to be able to compete on the same scoreboard. This was a big minus for me and is why I didn't give this game a 5.

Overall, this is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.
