Gulp Gulp Aa Ahhh. Water By Nutmeg101 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

We drink a LOT of water at my house, and we like it COLD. So after we accidentally ruined our Brita pitcher (whoops, not dishwasher safe) we got a replacement. The Pur was slightly cheaper, so we bought it. My husband was interested in the "Flavor" option that came on the Pur filter. It allows you to flavor your water with the push of a button. It adds a few drops of flavoring as you pour the water. While a cute novelty, we never use it. We have both tried it once, and never since.

My favorite feature is the filter replacement indicator. There is a small LED light on the top of the unit that you reset each time you change the filter and it blinks green, then yellow, then red as the life of the filter expires. I am horrible at remembering when i changed them, so having something to keep track for me is AWESOME, especially since it doesn't involve stickers, making notes, etc.

We chose the pitcher over the tap filter because we do like our water cold (so we refridgerate the pitcher) and the replacement filters are much cheaper on the pitcher.

Nutmeg I love the LED indicator that comes with this model. What a good idea, because I suspect most of us just guess when a filter is due for changing. I'm not in love with the flavored water idea. I like mine plain and cold, just like you.

PUR is a name long known to backpackers as makers of quality filters. They have crossed over into home filters and are doing a great job there too.

That is great that it tells you when to replace the filter. We really should drink more water at our house. My youngest son and I love cold water but I hate to "waste" money on bottled water. This sounds like a great option.

LOL. I wondered if I would ever use the flavor option..probably not. But it is neat! Thanks for the warning about the other pitcher too, haha.

I love that there's a filter replacement indicator, I'm sure that gives you peace of mind to know that you're always drinking the freshest water possible.

Sorry to hear about your Brita pitcher! I think we have all made similar mistakes. This pitcher sounds really great, it takes the guesswork out of when to change the filter. I've never heard of the flavoring option, but I'm not a fan of flavored water so I probably wouldn't use it either.
