Half Life 2 By Bartrholomew By Bartrholomew on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
The sequel to the legendary Half-Life from 1997 lives up to it's predessesor and then some. Half-Life 2 was the debut of the source engine, Valve's new highly moddable engine. With graphics that rival games made today (HL2 was released in 2004) this is not a game to run with a weak graphics card. But at the same time, it's still good for that! It could run on extremely basic machines, or on your supercomputer and still look good. The story starts with Gordon Freeman from Half-Life 1 pulling into a mysterious city on a strange train with no idea of what's happening, but the epic story will slowly unfold as he meets his old friends from Half-Life 1. Of course, the gameplay is of the highest quality just like everything Valve puts out. The game has some pretty bizzare level design but Valve gently guides you forward with cool lighting tricks and powerups to move you in the right direction and make you feel like you figured it out on your own. If you don't own this yet, go buy the Orange Box immediately for $50, because it also includes 4 other games!
