Half Moon Bay Kayak Co. -
By Sneha Rr onIf you live in the bay area (California) and want to try kayaking, go to Half Moon Bay. For beginner this is a good place to start out. The waters are calm and the people are helpful. My friends and I all rented the sit on top kayaks to go out to the harbor. The staff was helpful and patient in answering all our questions as we'd never been kayaking before. Rental is very affordable at $15/hour. 1 to 2 hours is good enough. Sit on top kayaks are available for rent for those with no prior experience. Included in you rental are a wet suit, water resistant paddle jacket, life jacket, fundamental paddle explanation, and kayak safety instruction. One thing I didn't enjoy was the water, it was fishy and a bit nasty due to all the fishing going on nearby. It was not so pleasant. Then you get fish water all over yourself as you are rowing. They also offer expeditions and lessons for more fun. There was a class going on in fact nearby and it looked like a lot of fun. Expeditions are around 3 hours and around 50 bucks. Classes are about 8 hours and $100.

Thanks for the review. I love Kayaking.. Been to Dana Point, various places in San Diego, Cataline Island, New Port Beach, Long Beach, etc..I prefer the Bay-to-Ocean Kayaking.. Marina's can become annoying when you have to dodge large boats and Lakes are too crowded and the water is stagnant and dirty.. I love Ocean Kayaking.
