I had decided to do my kitchen in red so start buying all red appliances so as soon as I saw this can opener I had to buy it. It is very sleek and does not look bulky sitting on my counter top. I was not expecting anything fancy because it was just a basic can opener and o but just needed something to open cans for the first month it worked perfectly.
I start having trouble getting the magnet to latch on to the can then when it was done it would just drop the can. Finally the magnet fell completely off and I have tried numerous times to put it back on but I use it once and it comes right back off. It has a removable top so you can put it in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. After I removed it the first time it keeps falling off and has never latched right on correctly.
Now every time I open a can it is a huge fight trying to get it to open and I have to remember to hold on otherwise it bangs off the counter and I end up with sauce and soup all over the counter. The only good thing about the can opener that is although I need a new one that Hamilton is going to donate a portion of each sale of can opener to the American heart association.

Too bad that this one didn't last long enough. I think you should contact the manufacturer and see if you can get a replacement. They shouldn't break down that easily.
I am with Tink! Contact the manufacturer and see if they will stand behind their product. It could be that others have had the same problem as you. Good luck!
Oh my! I agree call or email that company and complain! They should replace this free of charge!
This is Hamilton Beach? Usually they do better products. I need a new can opener. Will stay away from this one.
Do follow up with the manufacturer. I've always thought this was a reputable company.

Oh, shoot! I have a friend who did a red kitchen, and I thought this would be something she would like. Guess not!
