Hand Held Project Calculator By manwithadream on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I'm in the construction trades and one of my most useful tools is my ProjectCalc. This calculator makes it easy for me to figure material for my jobs. You can get this at all the popular home improvement stores, like Lowe's and Home Depot. Not only does it work as a standard calculator, but I can also calculate the amount of material I need in all these materials: Bricks & Blocks, Drywall, Gravel, Lumber, Paint, Roof Shingles, Studs, Tile, & Wallpaper. It helps me find the diagonal, so I can make sure an area is perfectly square. You can figure how many square feet a gallon of paint will cover. You can figure in feet, inches, fractions, decimal feet, decimal inches, fractions, yards, meters, as well as square and cubic formats.

I use it mostly to figure how much dirt or gravel I need for a job. It only takes me a few seconds to punch in the numbers and get an accurate estimate.

A watch battery that lasts a long time powers this calculator. The screen is large and easy to read and it has a hinged cover that keeps the dust and dirt out and also helps protect it from damage on the job site.

Wow, my husband would love one of these for the job. I didn't know they made them specifically for contractors. Thanks for your insight!

I agree this is a big help on figuring jobs. A lot less work than trying to do it with a regular calculator.

I have never heard of a calculator doing this. This is such a great idea. Not only does it help with time but I am guessing it can save money too. Thanks for the great information.

Sounds like an invaluable tool for you :0) And the cover is a nice touch especially since you're around a lot of dirt at your job I'm sure.

I've never heard of a calculator that provides these estimates, what a cool concept! We could use one for the few home improvements we do each year, and at a reasonable price too! I'll have to have hubby check them out next time he's at Home Depot.

What a useful sounding calculator! I love that it has a cover to protect the calculator. I would imagine that the cover would be great so that the calculator won't be turned on accidentally if thrown in a toolbox or in a pocket.

How great that so many of those contractor-type calculations are built in!
