Hang Up Your Stuff!
By cafn8me onMy mom bought me this hall tree to help corral the flotsam and jetsam that always seems to accumulate in our back hall. You know the stuff....coats and hats, boots and backpacks, umbrellas, gloves and scarves. My husband and kids were not great about hanging things in the nearby closet.Instead, they would drape coats and sweaters over a chair and leave backpacks and other detritus strewn all over the place.Of course, this resulted in absolute chaos whenever it was time to actually find those items. Not good!
This hall tree features a large storage bench with a safety-hinged lift top. This is where we keep hats, gloves and scarves when not in use.The bench itself is a sturdy, convenient place to sit down and put on/take off shoes and boots.Above the bench are 5 double hooks, which are a convenient and readily accessible place to hang backpacks, purses, umbrellas and outerwear.Directly over the hooks is a large mirror (see photo).Since the hall tree sits opposite a window, the mirror reflects light into the hall as well as offering a place to give yourself a quick once-over before leaving the house.
Although this piece is constructed mainly of MDF with wood veneers, it is an attractive and functional piece of furniture that allows me to keep all my family's junk organized in one place.Priceless!

This is one of the first pieces of furniture I am purchasing when my addition is done!
These are a great idea, thanks for the info - yours looks very nice, like the dark wood look. Thanks for the info
People used to use these all the time, but I haven't seen one in a long time. It's a great organizational tool. You have a sweet mom!
My mom's hall tree is the only one I have ever seen in use. Being quite gypsie like through the years, I have had the distinct pleasure of having to move that monstrosity many times! It is huge. But, reflectively, there are a lot of good ole memories tied to one of her favorite signiture pieces of furnishing. Good write
I always wanted one of these benches maybe someday during our trips to Amish country we'll buy one.
thanks for share....^_^
