Harpers Ferry National Historic Park By Summer Banks on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Located 1 1/2 hours outside of our nation's capital, Washington, D.C., is a sleepy little town with a whole lot of history. Harpers Ferry National Park is the home of the Harpers Ferry National Park.

The Park houses the C&O Canal, the meeting spot of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers, TUBA Christmas, as well as, several period celebrations.

The Harpers Ferry National Historic Park offers museums and tours, eclectic shops and restaurants, all amidst a small town feel. For young kids, there truly is very little to do and the entire visit requires plenty of walking. This destination would be best enjoyed by older children and adults.

I lived near the Harpers Ferry National Historic Park nearly all of my life. This destination is a great stop for any East Coast vacation.

My daughter is heading that direction for a trip soon - I'll tell her to stop there.
