This Tonka dump truck is an oversized, metal and heavy duty plastic body playing machine. The bed is well made of sturdy metal. The edges are rolled with no real sharp edges so litlle ones will not get cut on. The body is very well made, very sturdy. The top of the dump bed has a red molded plastic handle made into the bed so kids or adults can lift the bed for dumping or generally tossing around. The bed is oversized to hold alot of dirt, sand or whatever a kid wants to dump. The bed raises up almost 90 degrees for dumping so everything is sure to come out. The dump truck is also easily hosed off to remove loose sand or dirt. The only part of this truck I would be carful with are the hinges that the bed raises up on. They are a little on the thin side, so if your ch ild has any kind of heavy dirt in the bed and raises it up and was to drop it hard, the hinges "may" bend.But overall,we have been very pleased with this Tonka dump truck. My son loves playing with this dump truck. He brings it with him when we go to the lake or the beach camping.

Tonka products are well known for their durability. My oldest son will be twenty eight in May and we still have his first Tonka dumptruck which we bought for his first Christmas. I do not like the fact that they have now integrated plastic parts with the metal ones. This past summer, I bought my first grandson a dumptruck, bulldozer, and backhoe. We spent many an hour playing with them in his outdoor sandbox. Like your son, he just loves his Tonka trucks! Excellent description of the dumptruck! Nice job!
