He Can Make You Thin By dizzyduck on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

A lot of folks are going to think I am off my rocker, but this is working for me. It didn't cost that much (used on Amazon for 18.00) and it is a safe, effective way to not only lose weight, but to change your relationship with food. Paul McKenna teaches you methods to be in control of food, instead of food being in control of you. If you are like me, I am sick of all the diet fads and expensive exercise equipment that promises to give you the body of a goddess. I have struggled with my weight the past few years, and have found as I age, that shedding a few pounds is much more difficult than it was when I was in my twenties. The things that I used to get away with, like gorging myself on pizza, I just can't get away with now. The habits I had developed, like being a charter member of the “Clean Plate Club” and eating on a schedule, not when I was hungry, were not serving me well at this stage of my life.

I first became aware of Paul McKenna and his techniques through his TLC show, “I Can Make You Thin”. It was only by chance that I saw the first show. I was channel surfing when the title caught my eye. I was, of course, skeptical, but decided to watch. I am so glad I did. Paul went over the secrets of naturally thin people, or the four golden rules, as he calls them. These are things that are so simple, I should have known them, but for some reason didn't.

Here they are:

1. Eat when you are hungry.

2. Eat what you want.

3.Eat CONSCIOUSLY and enjoy every mouthful

4. When you think you are full, STOP eating.

I was hooked after number 2.

After the show, I jumped on line and started investigating. Everyone should go to Paul's website McKenna.com and take advantage of all the free stuff there, including further elaboration of the golden rules. I went even farther and purchased his book from Amazon. The CD that is included is incredible. There is just something about it that works. It works on your mind at both the conscious and subconscious level and helps you to get and keep control of food. I put it on my mp3 player and try to listen to it at least every other day. It is relaxing, calming, helps on the self-esteem and reinforces the book.

This method has made such a change in my life. I simply cannot eat as much as I used to. When we go out to our favorite Mexican restaurant, I take half of my meal home in a box, when just a few short weeks ago, I could wolf it all down. Last night we had spaghetti and meatballs. We prepared the same amount we have prepared for years, but guess what? I could only eat half of mine. I eat one Pop-Tart (chocolate of course) for breakfast instead of two. When we had grilled chicken the other night, I could only eat one piece. I feel so much more in charge, so confident, so good about myself. It is just incredible.

I haven't weighed myself yet. I have a doctors appointment in two weeks, I know what I weighed last time (one month ago) so I want to wait to see whet I weigh this time.

But my clothes are looser and people are starting to notice. I feel better too.

If other diet and exercise methods have failed for you, you might was to spend less than twenty bucks and give this a try.

Thanks for the good information. I think he does know a lot about the psychology of eating (and overeating)

So do I. His 4 golden rules make enormous sense. Instead of focussing on what you CAN'T have, the focus is on having what you want, but only enough to fill your hunger. GREAT concept.

It makes so much sense and it is so simple, you just wonder why you didn't know it to start with??

Looks like you cut & pasted from Word or another application. You might want to first paste into Note Pad then copy that version over. That will strip these embedded tags.

I saw the TLC show also. Everything he says makes sense to me. My grandma always used to tell me to chew my food at least 20 times. So conscious slow eating has to be the way to keep you on track. I'm going to check out the book and CD. Thanks for the information.

I am so glad to hear from someone that it is actually working for you! that's great! I saw the first show, and liked his ideas; they made sense. Then I saw the second show, with the accupressure tapping, and it just seemed kind of silly. I tried it, and it didn't make me stop wanting chocolate (one of my many downfalls...). I eat for all the wrong reasons: I'm sad, I'm happy, I'm bored, I'm celebrating, I'm lonely -- you get the picture. And like you, I'm at that age where each pound leaps onto me and doesn't want to go away. I know I'd feel better if I lost weight (joint pain, acid reflux, etc. etc.) but it's so hard. I think I'm going to look for his book -- You've inspired me!
