Heat Dish Heater With Footlight By Mary60 on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

The Presto heater is for someone who needs a small place to warm. If you want personnel comfort this heater is for you. We use it on a small porch for our computer area. It is directed to the person on the computer.

The dish looks like a satellite dish, and is electric, but has a thermostate control switch that turns on and off in a cycle pattern. Even though its electric ,it can save you energy. The heat comes from a coiled wire element wrapped around a ceramic cone. The heat is directed by a beam to the reflector, then directed to the individual. The element only heats when the power is on, but the cone stays warm and still gives off the feeling of heat. It uses 1000 watts of electricity, a third less than most electric heaters. When you keep the heat down in your room and use the heat dish on a selected area, that can surely save you money .

The footlight is an extra light to let you know that the heater is plugged in. As with most electric heaters, if the heater is tipped over a buzzer will sound, and an automatic safety switch will activate. Please, as with anything with heat ,use caution around chidren.

Every time we go to Costco and I pass this heater, I stand in front of it and enjoy the heat. Hoping I can talk my boss into getting this one for my office!!

Looks cool but its too expensive. Space heaters are much cheaper.

These are not for heating the whole house, just to take the edge off of where you are sitting or working. Any electric heater is expensive..

Wow! I never thought a fan can not only cool us down, but it can also heat us up! lol! Its nice to know such product exist, even though this will be of no use here in our country (for we are a tropical country).

My grandmother had one of these. It seemed very unsafe. I assume they've improved the design.

Mary60

They have improve, but you still need to be careful.

I had co-workers in the past that used these. Fortunately nobody ever knocked one over and I am not one to ever be cold, so I haven't used it. But they all loved them. I would definitely consider this brand if I did need to get one.

I have never seen this before. I wouldn't want it around my kids but I see how it could work in a localized area. Thanks for sharing this product.
