High Style In High Def By luvmybeagle on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I have been hesitant to plunge into the waters of deciding on a high definition format. It seems like both sides had something good to offer. I think anyone familiar with the latest format war, reminiscent of the beta-max/vcr war in the 80's, knows that this past week pretty much decided the winner. It seems that the Blu-Ray format is the way to go. Having been the first person I knew back in early 98 to adopt DVD I thought it was time to update to the newest format.

I read reviews and decided on the DMP-BD30 from Panasonic. I already own an upscaling dvd/dvr/vcr player from them and really like it. I have to say that I was not disappointed at all. The picture quality is brilliant, so rich and deep. The sound quality is amazing also, but my surround sound system went out. So I will have to post back when I get the new one installed. But for anyone looking for a player, this is one to consider. The firmware updates, that let the player adhere to the newest disc technologies, are easy to install. So far I have nothing but praise for both Blu-Ray and the Panasonic DMP-BD30. Though I did notice a dramatic price increase on Amazon. I am not sure why.
