Highlights: A Fun Educational Magazine For Kids By Alicia Bodine on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My Father bought my daughter a subscription to Highlights magazine for her Birthday. My daughter is 8 years old. She just loves this magazine and if she was old enough she would write a rave review herself.

Highlights has a motto, "Fun with a Purpose". This motto holds true throught the magazine. The hidden pictures are challenging, but not impossible. I enjoy doing those with my daughter. There are always some good clean jokes and cute little poems. All the stories printed have a moral. The comic strip Goofus and Gallant shows the consequences for the child who does wrong, and the rewards for the child who does right.

My daughter really loves the column called Ask Arizona. Each magazine has a question that is asked to a girl named Arizona. Arizona always has the funniest stories to go with the her answers. Kids learn an important lesson from a girl who is made to sound just like every other girl out there. She's not perfect, but she is learning how to do what is right.

There are science sections and recipes. This magazine has it all. I highly recommend all parents of children ages 6-12 sign up for Highlights.
