Homes By Kate Petty By nspear on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

If your like me, there isn't anything better than a great book that is both entertaining while teaching your child a valuable lesson. In this beautifully photographed book it teaches your child that there are several different ways children live and play. It teaches about several countries and their climates and living conditions as well as what kids that live in those areas do differently.

We purchased the hard cover version but it is also available in soft cover for $8.95. Haveing a young toddler and another one following behind her.. we need high quality that will last through two children, so we tend to stay away from soft covers that can rip or tear easily. The pages are also very sturdy in a posterboard type material with vibrant colors to keep our little ones attention.

Even as an adult I was astounded to see the types of homes people live in around the world.. I didn't realize that some of these types of homes still existed! Also a portion of the proceeds goes to organization committed to finding lasting solutions to poverty and suffering around the world through Oxfam!!

This is a great educational tool for both children and adults alike!

I agree Sharkbytes. I loved buying this type of book for children because it did help raise their global awareness.

I do agree with the quality of the book. I have read books with your daughter before and know how she is a very independent page turner and have seen the end result for some of the soft-page books she has gotten into. She did very well with the hard pages and no damage was done to the book.

While I am not going to say it four times, like Geri has - ;-) - I am going to agree with her that Homes by Kate Petty sounds like a wonderful book! I am impressed that Oxfam came out with such a fantastic book. Educational, fun and allows the purchaser to feel good about contributing to a worthy cause.

I am always fascinated by the way people live. I think I would enjoy this book and great way for kids to learn that not everyone is the same.

I think this sounds like a book that parent and child could enjoy and get quality time in together.

I've never heard of this book. I think all kids even my 6 year old could benifit from reading this. I think they take what they have for granted sometimes.
