Hook, Peter, Wendy & Tink… The Rescue by Boyds Bears is one of Boyds Limited Edition figurines.
This piece was both issued and retired in 2003. I feel just so fortunate to have been able to get one of these pieces!
The details and colors of this particular piece are just so incredibly vibrant! I am not sure if the pictures that I posted can show you the depth of the purple of Captains Hooks Hat and pant leg, the red of his jacket and the green of Peters hat, clothes and shoes.
If you look at the back view you may be able to see that there is large kid like lettering across the ship that spells out: “You never grow old if you believe” I think that this is actually true!
There is also a light up lantern upon this ship that actually lights up! My sources say that there are watch type batteries and a tiny switch on the bottom, but they cannot fool me as I can clearly see that this lantern is lit with pixie dust!
On the bottom of the base my bearstone states Limited Edition January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2003 with mine being marked February #2099. This makes mine a second edition, I believe. Way cool!
The quote printed on the bottom of this bearstone is:
“Unless we believe in the hero, what is there To believe.” - Stevens
The T in To is purposely capitalized. It is not a typo.

I love the Boyds Bear resin figurines because of the great attention to detail. Each bearstone has a lifelike look and texture that is hard to match. The fur looks real… with actual individual hairs. There are wrinkles in the bears clothing… and always something worn with a hand sewn patch or two or more! Also, hidden somewhere on each bearstone is a paw print.
