Hoover Slider...Really Suc..Uh, Stinks By nicholmom3 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I picked this stick vacuum for a few reasons. One, it was small, slender, and would work well for my apartment. Two, it was on clearance for 11 bucks. That alone should have told me something.

The vacuum worked quite well at first. We only have one rug, but with 3 kids the rug gets nasty fast. The Slider would pick up most crumbs, but noting even remotely heavy. Even small bits of paper would just be pushed around by the roller. I would have to clean the roller frequently as it slowed down after only a few uses. The dirt capture was tiny, and the filter was difficult to clean.

There were a few things that I did like about this vacuum, however. I reaaly liked that it was rechargable. I was able to plug it in the closet, and just pull out a fully charged vacuum whenever I needed it. It was slim and an attractive grey color. It did have another feature that I'm on the fence about. The vacuum would automatically shut itself off when lifted off the floor. While that was unique, it also caused my children to assume the vacuum was shut off for real, and thus would not flip the off switch. This caused the vacuum to lose it's power until I needed to use it, and it would be dead. ERGH.

Final verdict: okay for use as a quick pickup, but not as a primary vacuum by any stretch.
