Horizontal Utility Garden Shed By dsnygrl on - Updated Sep 18, 2011
Last year we got a not so nice notice from out homeowners association about our trash can being in plain site. We have it at the end of a long driveway and it is normally blocked from view by the cars but this day I guess someone spotted it. We knew we had to do something so off we went searching for something to use. Ay Lowes we found the vertical utility shed by Suncast. It is made of resin so it is weather proof and will not require much in up keep. It has 2 doors in front that swing open either seperatly or together and the top also opens up as well. It is large enough to hold 2 outdoor trash cans although we only use it for one and then store my sons outdoor play toys in there with it. The thing I like most about it is that it was designed with a slight ramp lip in the front so the can rolls easily up and down it and does not need to be lifted back inside. It also protects the can from being in the direct sunlight and as a result has cut down on the odors from the can too.

I am giving one this category--Its yours!
That ramp sounds like a very nice little perk. Lowe's seems to generally have quality stuff.
I was glad to see it's easy to get the cans in and out of - that's always my concern.
I love this product, I had the same problem with my HOA.. This seemed to do the trick!! Thanks!!
I wonder if this is bear proof!? Last year we lived in the mountains and the black bears kept getting into our trash! It was a real MESS! We ended up tying the can to a tree and tying the lid down...but they still occationallt managed to get it! Also they smashed the heck out of the can trying!
Oh those pesky home owners associations. The things they make us do. Thanks.
How clever is this? A great idea to hide garbage cans and keep them from blowing around on a windy day!
I was actually thinking of making one before fall hit because of our raccoon problem, but this looks like it will do the job without me having to learn how to use a drill/saw/any tool really!
