Can i start by saying i actually paid around £10.00 for this book at a bear fair - and i nearly died looking on Amazon and saw it was £49.00. I assume its gone up in value now, due to the popularity of Artist bear making. Anyway onto the book - this book was the inspiration for my bear making hobby. Those people who are not aware - artist teddy bears are usually fully jointed, and made for adult collectors as opposed to children. I have been making bears for some years now, and thank heavens for this book for opening my eyes to the hobby, and most of all giving me the confidence to start in the first place. The book has excellent illustrations, and explains in easy to understand chapters how to begin making your first artist bear. There are some fantastic bear patterns, even though by law you cannot copy and sell someone elses pattern. The book features artists and their bears from all over the world, and they all give their own ideas and tips. Colour pictures help you to choose your fabric - which is quite important as alot of artists prefer to use Mohair - which is expensive. Jointing the bears can be the hardest part, but the book guides you through this step by step.
