Hp Pavillion 7000 By jabbr on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

I owned a HP Pavillion 7000 for two and a half years. During this time, I traveled with it quite a bit and used it as my primary computer. I wanted a 17" screen and was very happy with the computer at first as I had been working off of a slower 15" laptop for a few years before. However, I have to share that now owning a Toshiba Satellite 17" laptop, I can't recommend that HP anymore. The HP was quite heavy and is about 1.5 lbs more than the Toshiba which I now have and worst of all, the HP ran very, very hot. I was running business applications mostly and found the fan running continuously. The fan is not subtle and by the end of the day, I was quite fed up with it. I also want to share that the HP's battery dies during year two and that eventually the hard drive began to overheat as well. The HP is too noisy/hot, heavy and the keyboard and touchpad weren't as nice as the Toshiba which I am using. I believe that the HP came with a lot of photo and multimedia ports and if you are a hobbyist and were using the HP for two hours a day for photos etc. it would work. For a desktop replacement, I would recommend a Toshiba or of course a Mac etc.
