Hp Pavillion A1540 N By Lindy Smith on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

When our previous desktop finally stopped working, we had to get a new one relatively quickly because my wife works on the internet. We strolled into Best Buy hoping not to spend too much. We were not disappointed as we happened upon the HP Pavillion A1540N. It has 2GB of memory which is decent for our price range. The video card isn't the highest end and won't support most of the newer video games, but we don't do any computer gaming, so we didn't care about sacrificing in that department. It has a 250 GB hard drive which is quite adequate for our needs. The A1540N comes with a Lightscribe DVD burner which is cool for creating customized lables for your cds and dvds. It also has a separate bay for expansion, so if we want to add another DVD drive or hard drive, we have the room for it. It came with an Athlon 2.2GHz processor and has been fast enough to keep up with everything we've asked it to do. One of my favorite features of this system is that it's whisper quiet. I've had other computers that have been noidy and whiny, but I can hardly tell when our computer is on without looking at the lights on it. If you're a hardcore gamer, you'll be disappointed in this system, but if you just need to check email and surf the internet, this is the system for you.
