Hp Usb Flash Drive V115w: 4 Gb By vwpsoftware on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

The HP v115w USB Flash Drive is a tiny storage device that measures 30x12x6mm. Its size is excellent, but its read and write speeds and its compatibility with certain operating systems let it down.

Inserting the v115w into an Acer Aspire 5610 laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium, 2.5GB RAM and 1.86GHz Intel Core Duo), the USB took 44.51 seconds to open. On an Acer Aspire 5735 laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium, 2GB RAM and 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) it took 53.69 seconds. This is extremely disappointing, considering on the package of the USB, HP claims that the device "Works with Windows Vista". When opening the drive on Windows Vista, Windows Explorer usually stops responding, and you have to open Windows Task Manager to end the process explorer.exe, which closes the taskbar, start menu, etc. However, on Windows XP and Windows 7 Release Candidate, the USB opens immediately.

The USB is somewhat a "portable" USB. It is miniscule, and can easily fit into a wallet. It is perfect for Windows XP users but it is not recommended if you own a Windows Vista computer.
