I Am Not Going to Get up Today

As usual Dr. Seuss has done it again with this book.It is wonderful.The illistrations are colorful but simple.There are only a few sentences per page which is GREAT!When my son was little and I read the book to him, there was plenty for him to look at while I read the few lines.Books that had too few pictures or too many words were frustrating for both of us because it never failed that his little fingers would be trying to flip the page before I was done.That was not the case with this book.Later when he was learning to read we still liked this book because it uses rhyming and the pictures illustrate the words so well.It made it easier for him to figure out words and read the story all by himself.My son is now eight and although the book is way too simple for him, he still has it in his book shelf and pulls it out for time to time to read just because he thinks the story is so funny.It's not unusual to see him with this book in his lap laughing out loud at some of the silly things people do to try and wake the boy in the story up.
