My daughter got this as a gift last Christmas,She was only 2 at the time and this is rated for ages 3 and up.

I must say even for a 2 yr old this is great it give them a head start on letter recognition and letter sounds , at 2 they can't do the word creation but this toy says to find a letter and when you put the right letter in the word whammer it notifies you. So with time the your child will learn to identify the letters with fewer mistakes.

The Word Whammer base is magnetic so it can stick on the fridge, and it is a very strong magnet, our has never fallen of the fridge, and all the letters that go into the word whammer are magnetic as well, they will stick on the fridge as well as in the base.

This has 3 activities, letter hunt( learn names and sounds with songs, word hunt( make 3 letter words) and word builder( the package says you can make over 325 3 letter words).

Word Whammer contains all the letters from A to Z plus 6 additional letters( E,O,D,G,M,P),there is a volume control on this which is a good thing because it can be loud, it takes 3 AAA. The battery life is very good, in a year we haven't change the batteries but once, andthis is played with by both my girls.

This is a great sized toy to bring when traveling as well it will keep you little on occupiedon long trip, but you will have to either use a zip lock bag or a container to store the letters when traveling as this doesn't come with storage for them.
