I Love You, Stinky Face By godfrey884 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
This is a great book to show your child the meaning of unconditional love.
I Love You, Stinky Face is an award winning book, Written by Lisa McCourt, and Illustrated by Cyd Moore.
The copy that we have is a soft cover, but I did notice they do have it as a board book, The book has about 15 pages written on both side.
The story being told in this book is enjoyable for children and adults, the recommended age for this book is 4-8, my 3 yr old daughter just loves this book, it has become her favorite bedtime story.
The story starts out with a mother putting her child to bed and telling her child she loves him/her, the child then asks "would you love me if I was a Big Scary Ape?" The mother responds "If you were a big scary ape I would comb your whole hairy self to make sure you didn't have tangles, and I would make your birthday cake out of bananas and I would tell you, I LOVE YOU, my big scary ape." Then the child continues to ask the question using different ideas like stinky skunk and more, and the mother continues to respond with how she would love the child as they were.
I think this is a great book to teach children that love can be had no matter what you look like, or who you are, and that a mothers love is unconditional.

This is one of our favorite books, and keeps the attention of our 2-year-old son. He loves the stinky face part!
This sounds like a really cute book with a great lesson.
What a great book and I love the title too.
Great book and great message for all children...or adults for that matter.
And we do all have parts that are "stinky-face" and need loving anyway, don't we?
Will have to look for it, I love the message and it's told in such a way that the kids love to hear!
Awww, what a great story line! I love the message from this book, I will have to add this to our list as we grow our son's library.
