The favorite desert of choice in my family is ice cream. Over the years we have tried everything from the traditional ice cream scoop to the old soup spoon and still hard to struggle with getting the ice cream from the carton to the bowl. A few years ago I saw the OXO good grips ice cream spade and thought I would give it a try. It is now one of the most used gadgets in my kitchen. It has a comfortable non slip rubber handle that fits well in your hand. The spade part is wide with a large slightly curved head. I do not know what type of metal it it made from but it cuts right through even the hardest frozen treats with little to no effort. My son has been scooping his own ice cream since he was 4, it makes it that easy. Even after several years of use, it still looks almost brand new and the handle is still tight in place. There is one important thing to remember about this though and it is not dishwasher safe. What ever the metal is made from on the balde will get ruined if it is exposed to the chemicals in the dishwasher. It cleans up fast and easy in the sink with just a little dish soap and water.
