Ice Cream Larry, A Fun Book For Kids! By tinkerbell on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Who doesn't love polar bears and ice cream? This book titled, Ice Cream Larry, is one of four (I believe) books written about the lovable polar bear, Larry. We enjoyed the book, Hotel Larry, and this one with the tempting cover art looked like fun.

Larry is not your average polar bear. He loves blueberry muffins and sometimes wears sunglasses. In this story, Larry spends the night in the freezer inside Cohen's Ice Cream shop. The shop owner is shocked to discover Larry has consumed 250 lbs of icecream during his overnight stay inside the freezer.

Larry receives some minor fame from his ice cream binge. The caption under his picture in the newspaper reads, "I do not feel sick." One thing leads to another and in the end Larry finds himself the inspiration for a new ice cream bar.

This book is fun for kids and adults too, though I think we preferred Hotel Larry over Ice Cream Larry. While I do not wildly recommend you race out and buy this book, it is not one of our absolute favorites, certainly check the Larry books out of your library. They are written and illustrated by Daniel and Jill Pinkwater.
