ICOM V-8 PORTABLE HAM RADIO

I had received this about 3 years ago as a Christmas present from my girlfriend. I have been very pleased with it and have had no trouble with it at all.It has settings for high and low power and is very stingy on power usage. It operates on the 2 meter ham band. Icom has a fine tradition of durability and toughness. I have dropped mine more than once with no damage. I would recommend this one without reservation. It is a nice traveling companion for the ham radio operator that engages in nomadic pursuits so to speak. I took mine to Florida one year and while on vacationreally enjoyed talking to the ham radio operators down there. I received many a compliment on the transmitted audio as well. Simply cannot say enough good things about the overall quality and construction by Icom on this one. The overall size of this one is fairly small for at least what I am used to. I have always been very happy with Icom equipment and as a matter of fact I have an older radio made for the same purpose as this one by the same company and its 19 years old and has not missed a beat. I expect the results for this one to be very similar. The audio received is excellent and I have been told that the transmitted audio is quite good as well. This one is a keeper and I purchased one for my brother for Christmas becauseI like it so well. He loves it. No reservations on this one.
