Ikea Koja Tent By circusmama on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
We thought it would be nice for the kids to have a tent to play in, since we're always making tents out of blankets and chairs. So when we saw this at Ikea for the price, we went ahead and got it. Unfortunately, this was one of those cases where you get what you pay for.
The tent itself was very flimsy. The fabric is made to look like an igloo, with a door in the front and a screened window in the back. Everything is supported by plastic rods which you put together. If you put it outside, it tends to blow in the slightest breeze.
Our kids played with it for about fifteen minutes normally. After that, every time they did play with it, they would roll it over the floor with themselves inside of it. Soon, one of the rods snapped and the tent made a trip to the dump.
It might be a good toy for older children, but definitely not for the younger ones. Our children will have to make do with our occasional tents of blankets draped over the dining room chairs.

Sorry the tent did not work out from you. I am happy with most of the items I have ever gotten from Ikea. We had a pirates of the Caribbean tent that met a similar fait so it might just be the way tents these days are put together.
I love Ikea and I'm sorry to hear you didn't get a good product from them. I have noticed though that some of their cheaper stuff can be a little stingy. But I agree, you get what you pay for. :o) Sometimes I think blankets make the best tents because the kids can create them on their own!
Nothing better than just making a tent out of blankets & sheets!! I'm laughing at what your kids use the tent for!!
