Ikea Mammut Children's Stool By verjavec on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
Our 2.5 yr old loves sitting at a table and coloring. We bought the Ikea Latt table and chairs and needed a couple more chairs to go with it because we babysit two little boys from time to time. We got two of these stools.
As is the case with most things purchased at Ikea, they required assembly. It was quite simple though, the legs just needed to be snapped into the seat. As soon as they were together, my daughter was sitting on them. She couldn't decide which one to sit on and kept going back and forth between the two.
As with most kids, she climbs on them and uses them to reach things she wouldn't normally be able to reach. This is where the stools fall short. They tip easily when she is standing on them. They do fine for just sitting, but standing and reaching will cause them to tip. My oldest daughter is more cautious than most so she will stop reaching as soon as she starts to feel it tip. I think we will have to put these away as soon as my younger daughter starts doing this. She's not so cautious and tends to think that if something is starting to tip, she needs to move faster to get what she wants.
Ikea Mammut Purchased at: Ikea Price: $6.99

I love everything ikea and I think my little one would really love this stool. So affordable and so many possibilities!
Thats a good price, I really want to go to an Ikea ! I need to Google it and see where the closest one is at, I have never been.
Wow, what a great price. Too bad it's a little unsteady. With the way my kids climb around that might be a problem. thanks for sharing your experience with this!
I have enjoyed my Ikea purchases and find they are so much easier to assemble than any other brand out there.
I love Ikea products. Try to get to that store as often as possible. Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the information and the warning that you should never leave kids unattended if they like to climb on furniture.
Good to know about the tipping of the stools. My daughter would be tipping them over all the time.
