Ikea Rugs Cover Up Icky Cold Cement! By crunkyjens on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
My apartment has a screened in patio but the floor is cement. I wanted to get some type of rug to put down on it make it more cozy and also to be able to walk on without worrying about my feet getting dirty from the cement. I also wanted something that was not expensive, and could withstand the weather for those windy Florida storms we get that blow rain in through the screens.
Enter the magical world of Ikea. :o)
I found the perfect rug(s) to put on my patio. They are called Hemon rugs and are 6'7'' x 2'6''. My balcony is about 9' by 8' so I ended up getting 4 of the rugs. I laid them out side by side, starting at the very front of my patio where the screen is. They were not long enough to cover the entire width of the patio so I centered them and with the four of them I was able to cover the length of my patio completely and I have about less than 2 feet exposed on either side. The area the four rugs cover is plenty to walk on and covers the floor of my patio quite evenly.
The rugs are made up of 66% seagrass, 27% polypropylene, and 7% jute. They are ideal for patio use that is surrounded by walls and a roof. Perfect for me!

These sound like a great investment and great cover for your patio floor. Ikea has some really great products and I only wish there was one closer to me!
We also found our "perfect" rugs at Ikea! Love it.
honestly Ikea just does such a good job of all their stuff
I think seagrass and jute rugs are nice natural looking rugs and ideal for the type of area you describe.
I like the way your patio rugs sound! I'll look for them next time I go to Ikea.
Seagrass mats do look very nice. Wish we could see!
This sounds like a very nice rug. Thanks for sharing.
You've gotta love Ikea -- what a great place with wonderful things! I'm still looking for rugs; we don't have an Ikea here, but I'm going to Minneapolis next month, and there's a huge Ikea store across from Mall of America (which my sister will drag me through -- MOA, not Ikea, she won't want to go there because I WILL want to! LOL!) These sound just perfect for your patio!
Ikea sells such nice stuff, glad you found something you needed.
