Reviewing: Loreal Paris Couleur Experte Hair Color
Purchased at: Cvs     Price: $17.99 USD

This review is about my favorite hair color, Couleur Experte by Loreal Paris. I have been coloring my hair for over 20 years now and in that time I have tried most of the leading brands of hair color. I first tried this one about 3 years ago and since I have to color my hair often (thanks MOM)I have used it several times and still tried a few other brands in between, of them all this one is my favorite.

This is a 2 step system. The first step is your base color and the second step is the highlights. It takes longer to color your hair with this 2 step process but the results are worth it. The base color comes in one part of the box and the highlighting stuff comes in the other. I have lots of hair even though it's not that long and with some brands, I have barely enough color to make it all the way through. Even when my hair has been should length and I have used this, I have had plenty. The base color is rich and multi-tonal with wonderful highs and lows. It give excellent coverage even on resistant grays and it last much longer than any other color I have tried with little fading. Apply it like you normally would any color, wait 25-35 minutes and wash it out. Then come step 2 the highlights. You mix the powder and the liquid together in the plastic tray provided. You then use the special tool they have enclosed in the box to brush on the highlights where you want them. You can do as many or as few as you would like. If your not sure where to add them, they have pictures in the enclosed guide to help you depending on your hair style. Leave it on for 15 minutes after the last highlight is added and wash it out.

The kit comes with all you need to color and and highlight your hair. They include 2 pairs of gloves packed neatly in their own little plastic containers so you have one for the color part and one for the highlight part. The kit also comes withbottle of deep conditioner. It is well worth the extra time it takes and the extra cost over what a plain bottle of color would be.

Update On Feb 27, 2010: Of all the hair colors I have used, this one still gives me the best coverage and lasts the longest.

This is indeed one of my faves as well - easy to use, not all that expensive when you consider what you get and so far I've never had it go wrong! Thanks for the info

I love this stuff! You can really do a nice job on your own if you want to push apart salon color visits. I agree with the last statement that it is worth the extra time to do the two separate steps with this product, the extra time makes a difference, but plan on staying in with a good book the day you try it for the first time! When you have to do the work and read all the instructions the first time, plus two showers, you could be in for a several hour project!
