Indoor House Plant: The Chinese Evergreen By Fox_Dawson on - Updated Oct 15, 2011
I shopped around and did my research for an indoor plant that I could keep in my office. I came to the conclusion that the Chinese Evergreen might be what I was looking for. I discovered that this plant can clean the air in a room by releasing oxygen and it needs only a minimal amount of light. I bought one at Fred Meyer for very cheap and it was tiny. It only had 2 leaves on it. It has been a year since then and I am very pleased with my plant. It has been growing steadily and becoming bushier. Every week a see a new leaf emerging. It adds a bit of nature and color to my desk and I love the effects of that. It gets absolutely no natural light but it doesn't seem to mind at all. The pot I have it in has no drainage holes (I don't want to make a mess on my desk) but as long as I don't over water it, it doesn't mind that either. I wish more plants were like this one so I can have a few more on my desk but I don't think anything else could live in these conditions. It is very hardy and I recommend it for anyone who doesn't have a green thumb. I will try to add a pic later.

This sounds like my kind of plant. I love plants but they don't really do well in my care. I think this one might actually do nicely. Nice info.
Meems took the words right out of my mouth: "sounds like the plant for me" too. I avoid house plants. My mother has the green thumb.
