Inexpensive Adjustable Rustler Boys Jeans By dsnygrl on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

My son is tall for his age but he is also a skinny little thing. We have a terrible time finding jeans for him that fit him in the waist and don't fall down but are also long enough so he does not look like he's waiting for a flood. Being a true boy, he is also really hard and clothes and grows quickly when he hits a spurt so it's just not worth it to spend alot on his jeans.

After trying on pair after pair, we discovered Rustler Legendary Gold regular cut boys jeans at Target. They are made of a heavy 100% cotton fabric but are still soft and comfortable. These jeans are great because they have an adjustable waistband. Inside the waistband on both sides there is an elastic band that runs through the seam of the waistband and it has button holes in it. You simply pull the band evenly on both sides until the jeans are the width you need and then slide the button hole over the button. From the outside you can not tell anything was done but this allows us to purchase larger size jeans that fit him in the length and then adjust the waist to match.

These jeans are also built well and he has out grown them before he has worn them out. The only problem I have had with the jeans is that the waist band is thick with the extra material and elastic in there and most of the time the jeans come out of the dyer with that part still damp. We now save time and money and just go to Target for jeans instead of shopping around.

We have tried other brands of jeans for my son as he has grown but we find that the Rustler boys jeans still fit him the best and offer the best value for the money.

School starts here in only 2 weeks. This is usually the time of year Target puts these jeans on sale and I am waiting so I can stock up on some for the new year.

They sure needed this kind of jeans when my best friend's son was small. Pants simply would not stay up on the little guy. Now he's 6 feet tall and has the same problem, but he tends to notice better when they are slipping than he did when he was four!

Glad you were able to find what he needed. I think sometimes the manufacturers think all kids are chubby now a days. I hope Target continues to carry these in other sizes for him when he grows out of kid's sizes!

Your son has the same challenge as mine does-hard to fit in the waist & we have bought Rustlers for him because of the adjustable waistband-works like a charm!

My daughter is the tall and skinny, very hard to get her pants to fit the waist and have the right length, she has had some of these with the adjustable waist band,it's so much easier to get a good fit. Thanks for sharing.

My son has several pairs of these jeans. We love that we can adjust the waist to fit him.

I am so glad these work for you. I have trouble with jean shopping for my tall son also. We did try Legendary Gold at Target we they just didn't fit his body all that well. But it's good to know they work for some kids

Rustler jeans are very durable pants from my experience.

I had almost the same problem when my son was little. He was always bigger than other little boys, not so much fatter as just built like a bull since birth. In order to get jeans that fit around the waist, the legs were always so much longer, which made the straddle hang lower than it should. It was a chore finding jeans for him until he was about 11, then his legs started growing to fit the rest of him. We only buy him Levi Stauss now, they fit him better than any other jeans.

I think just about everyone can identify with not being able to find the perfectly-fitting jeans. This is a great idea! I have some for me (female), but I had no idea they were available for men/boys too.
