Inexpensive nesting side tables from Ikea

We searched for months to find an end table that would work well in our family room. One day we were shopping in Ikea for something else and we unexpectedly found exactly what we were looking for. I had checked Ikea online before to see if they had anything that would work but did not see this table on their web site so it may only be available in the store.

Our room already had a large square black wooden coffee table with a glass top in it and we wanted to find something that would match it. We knew we wanted a square or rectangular black end table at a reasonable price but we had no idea it would be so hard to find one. The Martorp nesting table set not only gives us one table but we actually now have three tables and when they are together, they only take up the space of one. This works well for us because space in that room is limited and when we need an extra table, we pull one out and when we are done, it goes back with the rest of them and is out of the way.

Like most items from Ikea, the tables did require assembly. The whole set took my husband a little over an hour to do. They were not hard to put together but some of the angles he had to work with when putting the legs on slowed him down. The tables are solid pine finished in what Ikea calls the black- brown color but they look black to us. The tops of all 3 are tempered glass and rest on pegs that come out of the frame. The largest of the tables is 21 inches high, 18 inches wide and 25 inches long. The other 2 tables are in graduated sizes down from there.

The tables are sturdy, functional and match our coffee table better than we ever expected and for the price, they were a real steal.
