Instead Of Pad And Tampons? No Way! By jayjay1113 on - Updated Sep 18, 2011

Instead Softcups is supposed to offer 12-hour femine protection. It also claims to be a proven alternative to pads and tampons. One size is also supposed fit most women.

I found that Instead Softcups did not fit me properly. I inserted it according to the instructions on the box but still had leaks. Thank goodness I had the forethought to still wear a pad! Not only was it hard to install, it is hard to remove Instead Softcups without spilling some of your menstral fluid. The instructions are well written, with even inllustrations of what you should be doing at each step, but I was never able to insert or remove it as described.

I did give the Instead Softcups a fair try by using 3 of the cups out of a box of 6. I would not recommend this product due the fact that it is hard to install and remove. Using pads or tampons is much easier and cleaner even if you have to change them more frequently!

I have used Softcups for some time now and absolutely love them! Like many things, however, they do take some practice. Once you find your own personal technique, they're great! When inserted correctly, you can't feel them at all, and they last soooo much longer than tampons or pads! They're also especially great if you lead an active lifestyle like I do. To boot, they're so much safer for your body than pads or tampons. The website says that there hasn't been a report of toxic shock syndrome in over ten years and they are also latex free. Practice makes perfect and once you get the hang of Softcups, I'm sure you'll love them! On a side note- they've also got a great alternative use as a clean sex agent. You can wear them and have sex while having your monthly visitor! ;)

Throughout the years I have found that the tried and true usually still works the best.

I'm not really familiar with female products like this but if the subject ever comes up I'll be sure to warn people against these!

Hmmm. Thanks for review. I was wondering about these. Seemed too difficult to me...and now I know not to go "there."

I always thought that menstrual cups would be hard to insert.

Thanks for the review. I have never seen or used these and I think I will stay clear of them. They don't seem like something that I could use.

I have used them before, and had the same problem. I tried them for 3 months in a row thinking that I would "get the hang of it" but I never did, and they are really messy to remove. I just stick with the traditional stuff

I knew a girl who used these but I always wondered about leaks. Thank you for your insight, great review.
