It Could Have Been Worse! This pessimistic mouse thinks his life is the pits. Little does he know that when all these seemingly bad things happen to him (like falling in a hole) it could havee been much, much worse (like a hawk eating him for lunch!). I just LOVE this story. Not only does it have beautiful illustrations, but it actually TAUGHT my son a lesson as well. So may stories these days don't have any real value for everyday life...I guess I'm just use to the old fashioned fables that teach morales as well as being enjoyable to read. So for me this is a modern fabel. My son thought it was sooo funny when the little mouse would have an "accident" and he would just laugh and laugh, all the while learning that as bad as he may think things are, to make the most of it because "It Could Have Been Worse."
