Jack Johnson's Sleep Through the Static
By ooncha onI'm a fan of Jack's music, and everyone has been talking about how "different" his new album 'Sleep Through the Static' is compared to his other records. Well it's not different, it's just darker. Yes, it is like a total opposite from his Curious George songs, but it's still good. I instantly like it at first listen that I went ahead and listened to it again. Not entirely sure why he made such darker songs, but at least he recorded at L.A.'s Solar Powered Plastic Plant!! SUN POWER! Oh and the sound quality would make audiophiles cry in joy lol
The songs in this album are very melancholy and mellow. Some would say that the whole album is too boring and long(I actually had it playing to get me to sleep), but I think with the right mood it can be fitting and nice. The reason why it's dark is because a cousin of Jack's has died and this album is dedicated to him. The lyrics are pretty interesting and contemplative. Basically it's about the world going after and against you in a soft, light way. It's very good background music or during rainy days.
For those who don't know who Jack Johnson is, he's a folk-pop artist who is from Hawaii and a surfer. I'm a sucker for acoustic guitar music so I immediately love this guy :)

I am a huge Jack Johnson fan, and I love this album too. In fact, I think it's better than his last one. Every artist has to try new things!
Can't say I ever heard of Jack Johnson sound like some nice music though, like you said in the right setting
