Jarts Still So Much Fun By Debbie831 on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Ok here is an oldie but a goodie. I don't know how many of you remember playing jarts but it was a family tradition in our family. Well of course my dad would play horseshoes if he could but in the back yard we would all get together on the weekend and play jarts.

I had such great times playing this game and happen to be on line and saw it at Amazon so I bought the set. For those of you not familar with jarts it is very similary to horseshoes, there are two plastics rings that you set apart from each other. I don't know the correct distance we just use to set them at opposite ends of the lawn. You can play one on one or two memeber to a team. You try to get the jart (which looks like a large dart) into the circle. If know one gets it in the circle it the the one closest. We played this for hours during the summer when I was growing up. I can't wait to have the family over and start this tradition again.

The only downside is the jarts are very pointy and should not be played with by small children, or if you are going to allow them to play make sure they are supervised. But I can guarantee hours of fun with this game and a lot of heated competition.

I loved Jarts as a kid as well, I thought they had been taken off the market or redone because they were too dangerous as most everything from our childhood days. Glad you rediscovered Jarts with your own family.

I was just going to say that I thought that Jarts had been recalled. I used to have a set when I was younger and prefered them to horse shoes but my parents made me get rid of them when there were reports of serious head injuries from the heavy Jarts. Are they still heavy metal with the plastic feathers?

Jarts is a lot of fun as long as you follow some safety rules!

I didn't know they still made this game. I remember awhile ago a big stink was made about people getting hurt with these. It's a really fun yard game tho.

I had no idea they still made this lawn game. I will have to look for it out in the stores. It is a lot of fun
