Jiffy Greenhouse
By donnabc onA few years ago my son and I tried to plant a garden for veggies it was about 8 feet by 8 feet.We planted tons of stuff and were so excited.Ummm, we never got any.Seriously, not one greenbeen or tomatoe.The rabbits and birds seem to like it ok though.
So, this year when prices started to sore, I decided to give it a shot again.THIS time, though I'm going to do container gardening, in my kitchen and on my back deck.So, to give the plants a head start, I purchased the Jiffy greenhouse kit.It has 25 indentions in the bottom for 25 pellets and a top.
The greenhouse came with 25 pellets and I can use the system over and over because you can purchase replacement pellets.I've already grown greenbean and eggplant plants.Now I'm starting lettace and herbs.
The draw back of the system is that it is made out of pretty flimsy plastic which seems would break fairly easily.
It is a bit sturdier than it looks, but is still sort of lightweight Donna. But it's worth it because you get such strong sturdy seedlings from it, and it is reuseable.
This sounds great. I'm moving into an apartment in a few month and was thinking about doing some container gardening on our lanai. I may look into this.
