The Joby Gorillapod is the perfect tool for digital photography lovers. The Gorillapod is designed with three firmly flexible legs, aimed at being sturdy enough to stand as a tripod on their own, while being flexible enough to wrap around most desired objects to secure a tripod mount in locations that might otherwise be impossible to mount. I love shooting nighttime photography, where the use of a tripod is an absolute must, and carrying around the ultra-light and ultra-portable Gorillapod essential to this style of photography.
Unlike some other small tripods, the mounting plate for the camera slides off the Gorillapod. This added bonus allows you to mount the Gorillapod without the camera attached, and instead of having to screw the camera on once the Gorillapod is in place, you instead simply slide the camera into the locking plate mount. Very handy.
This tool is absolutely great.
