John Frieda Luminous Color Glaze A Waste Of Time And Money By JPnMO on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

After seeing a hair stylist on TV talking about hair glaze, I wanted to try one. I did not hear which brand he used, but going by what I thought he said, I bought John Frieda's Luminous Color Glaze in the Chestnut to Espresso color for my dark brown hair. From the moment I attempted to apply it to my hair, I hated it. It did not spread well and I had to use a huge amount of the product to attempt to adequately cover my hair. Because I couldn't feel it in my hair, I couldn't be totally sure it was completely covered. I followed the directions exactly as printed. My hands were covered with the brown hair product, but it did wash off after a few attempts. I began styling my hair and anxiously awaited the new shine I was expecting, only to see the same old look with absolutely no sign of improvement. However, that was not the worst part. The next day, when I got into my shower, I found brown stain on the shower floor. Apparently, this happened when the shower dried as I did not see any sign of color when I left the shower. I tried to wipe it off, to no avail. My husband scrubbed it with a heavy duty cleaner and was eventually able to get most of it off. I contacted the John Frieda company and told them of my complaint. I wanted a refund, but the most they offered was a coupon for another product. Oh, and they admitted that this product can cause stains and even told me what to use to get rid of it! They ignored my attempts for a refund and I never heard from them again. I strongly advise staying away from this product.

That sucks! I was considering buying this, too, except the blonde version.

What a shame you had this problem. John Frieda products are usually pretty good.

Wish I had read this before I tried it! I too ended up with a stained tub, and it didn't make my hair look good at all!
